DELUXE 2CD/ STANDARD CD/ DIGITAL SET FOR RELEASE MAY 11, 2012

Since making their legendary TV debut on The Tube, performing the classic song ‘Letter From America’, in an era when the charts were dominated by the likes of Rick Astley and Sinitta, the response to Craig and Charlie Reid, two impassioned brothers singing their hearts out in their own accents about serious political issues was extraordinary. The Proclaimers were unlike anything we had seen before and Channel 4’s switchboards jammed with curious callers. It was the beginning of a phenomenon.

Within no time, they were signed and debut album ‘This Is The Story’ completed. ‘Letter From America’ hit #3 on the UK singles chart and the album went Gold. The Proclaimers followed the massive success of their debut album with the even bigger hit album in ‘Sunshine On Leith’ hitting # 2 here and selling Triple Platinum in Australia, with the single ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ spending 6 weeks at # 1 here.

Over the years, the band has maintained a high profile and continued to release fantastic albums – some other highlights over the years include performing ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ on the pitch five minutes before kick off at the UEFA Champions League Final at Glasgow’s Hampden Park (Real Madrid vs. Bayer Leverkusen), performing as part of the entertainment in Darling Harbour Sydney for the 2003 Rugby World Cup, as well as at Perth’s Arena Joondalup at the Final closing party, touring the world multiple times (including Australia, most recently in late 2009 with The B-52s) and having numerous tracks placed in ads and on TV shows and films.
